APR 11 1979 CDCKET 70-1821 Volpe, Boskey and Lyons World Center Building ATTH:

Mr. Bennett Boskey 91816th Street, N.W.

Washington, D.C.

20006 Gentlemen:

This refers to your letter dated February 6,1979, which requested a refund of the application fee paid by Allied-General Nuclear Services (AGNS) in January 1975, for its proposed Plutonium Product Facility.

The fee is designed to cover the Commission's application review costs.

We are in the process of collecting actual manpower and contractual services costs incurred in the review of the AGNS application.

As you may know, a portion of the review effort was completed under contract; accordingly, we are collecting data showing the costs of those services.

Preliminary indications are that the Commission had spent in excess of

$100,000 in its processing of the application prior to the AGNS January 15, 1975 decision to suspend further design work on the plutonium facility.

As soon as we are able to collect complete cost data, we will contact you concerning your refund request.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please let us know.

Sincerely,

& c~ ] Q D R ]

DanielJ.Donohhue, Director Office of Administration 1
