Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

On September 24, 1979, a report was made under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e) concerning a potential unreviewed safety question based on Westinghouse information that the performance of non-safety grade equipment subjected to an adverse environment could impact the protect-tive functions perfomed by safety grade equipment.

In accordance with the reporting requirements of 10CFR21, the fol-lowing infomation is submitted:

Westinghouse has informed Vepco that as part of a continuing review of the environmental qualifica-tions of Westinghouse supplied equipment, four (4) systems were identified which, if subjected to an adverse environment, could potentially lead to control system operation which may impact protec-tive functions. North Anna Unit 1 G. Corrective action which has been, is being or will be taken, the in-dividual responsible and the length of time to complete the action:

Westinghouse has provided Vepco the information on the basis for these concerns and we are now reviewing these systems for North Anna Unit 2 to detemine if any unreviewed safety questions or deficiences exist. The review will be complete and the results available in our 30-day report.
