APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company Docket No. 50-309 Based on the results of the NRC inspection conducted October 10-13, 1978, it appears that one of your activities was not conducted in full compliance with NRC regulations and the conditions of your license as listed below. This item is an infraction.
Technical Specification 5.8.1 states in part:
" Written procedures shall be established, implemented, and maintained covering... the applicable procedures recommended in Appendix A of Regulatory Guide 1.33, November 1972." Regulatory Guide 1.33 lists, in part, under Appendix A, Section 1, " General Plant Operating Procedures"...

Changing Load and Load Follow."
Contrary to the above, during a major power reduction on October 17, 1978, the Control Room operators were following the CEA Power Dependent Insertion Limits (PDIL) Curve for Core III.
The plant has been operating on Core IV since completion of the last refueling outage in August 1978.
The PDIL curve in the Control Room Technical Data Book was neither part of an approved procedure nor maintained current for plant conditions.
