The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 52 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-3 for the Yankee Nuclear Power Station (Yankee-Rowe). The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated June 6,1978, (Proposed Change No.160) as supplemented by letter dated August 22, 1978.
The amendment revises the Technical Specifications by adding require-ments to permit operation of Yankee-Rowe with the modified ECCS recirculation cooling subsystem described in the application. The amendment also deletes provisions of the Technical Specifications which will not be required for safe operation of the facility with the modified ECCS subsystem.
As a result of discussicns with your representatives, you have agreed to minor changes to improve clarity of several Technical Specifications.
Copies of our related Safety Evaluation and Notice of Issuance are also enclosed.
