Dear Mr. Mattimoe:
We have reviewed your submittal of February 1,1979, describing the proposed modification for storing the reactor cavity annular seal plate during reactor operation.
In order to complete our review of your proposal, we find that we need additional information.
Specifically, we request that you provide the following:
1.
A more detailed description of the proposed storage

system with clear drawings showing a plan view and an elevation of the storage system.
In addition, provide the significant dimensions of the structure.
2.
A description and the results of any analysis performed to arrive at the conclusion that the proposed modification is acceptable.
Include a listing of the materials used for the structure. Also include the Codes, code allowables, and loading combinations used in the analysis.
Indicate to what extent this design complies with the applicable Standard Review Plans and Regulatory Guides for seismic Category 1 structures.
3.
A description of the fabricating techniques used in the construction at the seal ring support.
Specifically show typical welded and bolted joints and describe the quality control utilized in the manufacture of the support.
