Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

In response to your letter of March 12, 1979, Carolina Power & Light Company has investigated the use at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) of ASME SA-312, type 304 pipe manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company.

The results of the investigation indicate that no ASME SA-312, type 304 or other welded (without filler metal) pipe manufactured by Younstown Weldiag and Engineering Company is in use or planned for use in safety-related systems at the SHNPP project. Therefore, CP&L plans no further action with regard to your letter.

Yours very truly,
