Nuclear Test Reactor License Renewal

Reference:

License R-33, Docket 50-73 Gentlemen:

The General Electric Company, Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC), currently operates the General Electric Nuclear Test Reactor (NTR) pursuant to License R-33 (Ref.). As this license expires on July 21, 1979, General Electric requests that License R-33 be renewed until October 31, 1997. This date was chosen as the original license was issued on October 31, 1957, and this extension period will complete the normal forty-year term of a reactor license.

RENEWAL APPLICATION INFORMATION I. Site Licenses The following licenses have been issued for the VNC site: R-33 (Docket 50-73), TR-1 (Docket 50-70), DPR-1 (Docket 50-18), DR-10 (Docket 50-183),

SNM-960 (Docket 70-754), and 0017-59 (State of California).

II. Financial Information Financial information will be fomarded under separate cover.

III. Filing Fee A check for $20,000.00 is enclosed as required by 10CFR170.22 IV. Environmental Impact Appraisal (EIA) Information EIA infonnation will be fomarded under separate cover.

The SAR will be fontarded under separate cover.

VI. Emergency Plans Copies of the sitewide VNC emergency plan are enclosed. The basic plan was approved for use at the General Electric Test Reactor on 7/1/76.

VII. Technical Specifications The Technical $pecifications will be forwarded with the SAR.

VIII. Operator Licenses and Requalification Training Program Operation of the Nuclear Test Reactor (NTR) is restricted to licensed operators. Personnel currently licensed are:
