I am writing to you on behalf of the Ricnmond Alternative .
Energy Committee. The members of our organization, all of whom live within fifty miles of Vepco's Norta Anna liuClear Power ctation, are ceeply aisturoed aoout tne aonormal settlement that has occurred ana continues to occur at the pumphouse for North Anna Unit 1. The settlement at tne pumpnouse tnreatens to creak tne water pipes tnat woula carry neeced cooling water to the nuclear reactor in an emer-gency.
I am speaking for all of our memoers in asking tnat kepco's allowaole settlement Icr tne North Anna pumphouse not 'ce increasea oeyond tne original figure of 1.6 inches, furthermore, tne Rich-mona Alternative Energy Cetmittee feels that a hearing is needed to make pu'lic o the settlement conaitions and risks oeneath all North Anna buildings.
rinally, it is hoped that the Appeal'Boara will investigate revocation of Vepco's hortn Anna Operating License for witholaing hazarcous settlement information from the Atomic Safety & Licensing Board. It is disgraceful tnat Vepco, knowing of significant sink-ing of the norta anna pumphouse in August, 1977, waited until af ter receiving its license to report tne sinking on April 28, 1978.
