  • Code Case 1731 Revision 0 Basic Calibration Blocks for ASME Section IX, Division 1 Ultrasonic Examination of Welds 10" to 14" thick This Code Case is used for upper reactor vessel shell calibration blocks. The basic code does not provide for thickness greater than 10".

    • Code Case 1713 Revision 0 We recognize that this Code Case has been annulled, since it has been incorporated in the Winter 1975 addenda to Section III of the Code, and therefore the Code Case may not be used in current :onstruction. However, the applicable Ccde Addenda for the referenced power plant steam generators per the provisions of 10CFR50, is the 1971 Edition Summer 1973 addenda.

Since this Code Case had previously been approved by the NRC for general use, we request that authorization for use in this instance be granted.

    • Code Case 1557 Revision 0 We recognize that this Code Case has been superseded by 1557 Revision 2; however, in analyzing the differences between the two revisions, we find that Revision 0 is actually the more stringent for our application. The following information lists the difference between the two revisions and their effect on our material:

A 1557-2 1557-0 Section Vill Section ill was used and is still applicable. No effect on our material.

Note (1): A heat is defined as all More restrictive each slab or of the ingots remelted from a single ingot was considered a heat.

primary melt. No effect on our material.

Note (2): The heat analysis shall be obtained from one remelted ingot or the product of one remelted ingot of each primary melt.

Note (3)t if the initial heat More restrictive, no retests analysir .est does not meet the heat were allowed. No effect on (ladle) analysis requirements of the our material.

Specification, one test from the product of each remelted ingot shall be made and shall meet the heat (ladle) analysis range.

Note (4): This code case shall not SA-508 was not specified. This apply to SA-508. code case was used for SA-533 material. No effect on our material.

Note (5): Material shall be marked No effect since the marking or identified wi th this code case would have been removed during number in addition to the remarking fabrication for our plant. No requirements of the Material Speci- effect on our material.

fication.

The material for which this Code Case applies was certified to Code Case 1557 The material vendor will not revise the mill test reports to show a later revision, and we do not believe that the Code inspection will allow us to upgrade the Code Data Report without also having the mill test reports upgraded.

Since the material purchased to Code Case 1557-0 fully meets all re-quirements of 1557-2, we request authorization for the use of 1557-0.
