Answering letter date cuyto sueject CONTAM.'. NATION CONTROL During a recent inspection, one of our people was noticed leaving an area that was possibly contaminated without checking his clothing and shoes with the monitoring equip-ment provided in that location.
It is important for your personal protection and other people's protection from the spread of contamination to use reasonable precautions af ter working with radioactive substances or after working in areas that could be con-taminated.
When doing routine work with radioactive material you should check your clothing, shoes and hands for con-tamination using a monitor that is capable of detecting the kind of radiation involved.
When work is completed, check yourself and the work area for contamination.
If work is continued for a long period of time, periodic checks while work progresses is recommended.
Always use the monitors at the front door of the Hot Lab and the Reactor Tunnel when leaving the buildings.
