Our letter to you of May 27, 1975 on the subject of main steam isolation valves cor ained an error involving valve nomenclature. In the letter and the enclosure, the reference to a "Y-pattern globe valve" should have been
angle non-return valve". The valve failure which occurred during startup involved an angle non-return valve of the lift-check type and not a Y-pattern globe valve.
Since it is our understanding that Three Mile Island Unit I does not have either swing-check or angle non-roturn valves, no further action with respect to our letter of May 27, 1975 is necessary. We regret any inconvenience the error may have caused.
