Dear Mr. Jones:
Your letter dated May 16, 1977 provided information in response to our request dated March 29, 1977 concerning the diesel generator alarm and control circuitry at Brunswick 1 and 2.
We have completed our review of the hardware modifications which were installed to enhance the operator's awareness of the status of the diesel generators. These modifications included the addition of a separate control room alarm for low starting air pressure labeled "D.
G.
Abnortral Condition", and connecting the barring gear engaged con-tact into the "D.
G. Unavailable" annunciator. We understand that these modifications were completed in February of this year. We further verified by telephone that all shared annunciators for disabling conditions could not be cleared until all the abncrmal conditions are corrected.
We conclude that the Brunswick design is within the scope and intent of Regulatory Guide 1.47 " Bypassed and Inoperable Status Indication for Nuclear Power Plant Safety Systems," May 1973 and is acceptable.
