License No. SNM-886 NOTICE OF VIOLATION Based on the results of the NRC inspection conducted on October 17, 1979, certain activities appear to be in noncompliance with NRC regulations and the conditions of your NRC Lica me No. SNM-886 as indicated below:
1.
License Condition 14.A requires that each encapsulated plutonium source designed for the purpose of emitting neutron or gamma radiation shall be tested for leakage at intervals not to exceed six months.
Contrary to this requirement, such a plutonium source in use at the facility of the licensee had not been tested since January 1970.
This is an infraction.
2.
Contrary to 10 CFR 19.11(a) or (b), neicher the documents required by 10 CFR 19.11(a) nor the notice required by 10 CFR 19.11(b) were posted at the time of the inspection.
This is a deficiency.
