Maine Yankee Fire Protection Technical Specifications Pursuant to Section 50.59 of the Commission's Rules and Regulations, Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company hereby proposes the following modifications to Appendix A of the Operating License.
PROPOSED CHANGE:
Reference is made to the Operating 'icense DPR-36 and the Technical Specifications contained in Appendix A issued to the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company for the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station.
We propose to make the following changes:

The following foam fire suppression systems shall be operable whenever the protected diesel generator is required to be operable-1.
Diesel Generator Room A Foam System 2.
Diesel Generator Room B Foam System With one or more of the above required foam systems inoperable:
1.
Within one hour establish a fire watch patrol with backup fire supnrassion equipment for the unprotected area (s) to inspect tc.; unprotected area (s) at least once per hour.
2.
Restore the system (s) to operable status within 14 days or, in lieu of any other report required by Specification 5 9.1, prepare and submit a Soecial Report to the Commission within the next 30 days outlining the action taken, the cause of the inoperability and the plans and schedule for restoring the system (s) to operable status.

United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission January 25, 1980 Attention: Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Page 4 REASON FOR CHANGES: Reference (b) above required Maine Yankee to propose revised Technical Specifications related to facility fire protection modifications. The present implementation date for the modifications listed herein is at the end of the refueling interval which is scheduled to start during January, 1980.
This submittal provides the requested Technical Specificaticn revisions.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:
The revision of Technical Specifications which relate to fire protection systems and which are being submitted in response to a Commission request are not considered to endanger the health and safety of the public.
This proposed change has been reviewed by the Nuclear Safety Audit and Review Committee.
FEE DETERMINATION:
As previously determined by the NRC, no license amendment fee is required to accompany a proposal to add surveillance and other requirements for operable fire protection systems added at the NRC's request.
SCHEDULE OF CHANGE: These changes to the Maine Yankee Technical Specifications will be made upon completion of the systems changes and upon receipt of Commission approval.
