PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION May 10, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-45 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public in+erest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verificati3n c-

Subject:
BOMB THREAT On May 9,1979, at 7:55 p.m. PDT, an unknown male called the Units 2 and 3 switchboard and gave the following message:
"A bomb i. planted in the EDM Center." The EDM is a records center located in the Units 1, 2 and 3 administration center, which is outside the protec+'.o area.
The same person phoned back ten minutes later and said, "TN bomb will go off in thirty minutes." The licensee conducted a searr', of the facility with negative results.
The Local Law Enforcement Agency (LLEA), Camp Pendelton Provost Marshall was notified and responded t> the site to assist in the search with portable explosive detectors.
Th<: LLEA also notified the California State Highway Patrol and the FBI.
Media interest is not expected by the licensee and no press release is planned.
The State of California has been notified.
The IAT has been notified.
MRC, Region V (San Francisco) received telephone notification from the licensee at 9:50 a.m. PDT on May 10, 1979.
