b PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION May 25, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT-.
PNS-79-50 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Carolina Power and Light Company Shearon Harris, Unit flos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-400, 50-401, 50-402 and 50-403 Raleigh, North Carolina
SUBJECT:
BOMB THREAT At 8:31 a.m. on te y 25, 1979 an anonymous telephone call was received by the a
onsite telephone operator.
A male stated "There is a bomb in the plant set to go off at 5'30 a.m."
The plant site was evacuated and a search initiated with negative results.
The licensee notified the local law enforcement agency.
All units are under construction and no fuel is on site.
Media interest is anticipated.
A news release is not planned by the licensee or the NRC.
The State of North Carolina has been informed.
The IAT has been notified.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from licensee personnel at 9:15 a.m. on May 25, 1979
