l PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION June 12, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-79-152 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Carolina Power and Light Company Robinson, Unit 2 Docket No. 50-261 Hartsville, South Carolina
SUBJECT:
STEAM GENERATOR TUBE LEAK On June 12, a steam generator tube leakage was identified when a high radiation alarm automatically isolated steam generator blowdown.
The unit was being cooled down to repair canopy seal welds reported in PNO-79-149 at the time the leakage was detected with primary temperature at 220 degrees Fahrenheit and primary pressure at 390 psig.
There was no release of radioactivity to the environment and no personnel exposures occurred.
The unit has been in a refueling outage since April 13 and the cause of leakage is believed to be associated with a steam generator tube that was plugged during the current outage.
The licensee does not anticipate any outage extension associated with this repair.
Media interest is not anticipated.
Neither the licensee nor the NRC plans to issue a news release.
The State of South Carolina has been informed.
Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 11:35 a.m. on June 12.
