October 11, 1979 CHAIRMAN The Honoratie Dan Glichnan United States House of Representatives
~
Washington, D. C. 20515
Dear Congressman Glickran:
This responds '.o your letter of September 5,1979, regarding utilization of reduced-face air travel options.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has applied consistent efforts to take advantage of travel cost reduction opportunities.
This is accomplished by having a centralized Headquarters' function for reservations and ticketing, the requiring of maximum advance travel planning, and employee education and notification through announcements such as the ones enclosed.
In addition, our Travel Services Branch conducts travel workshops in'each Regicnal Office to reinforce uniform application and understandirig through-out the Conrission.
Records maintained by that Branch indicate that travel savings are being achieved regularly by the use of discount fares, off-peak travel, recovery and use of half-fare coupons, etc.
The Commission will continue to support actions to hold down travel costs in every possible manner.
~N S.incerely,
-we Joseph M. Hendrie
