7590-01 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION DOCKET NO. 50-224 UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT BERKELEY NOTICE OF RENEWAL OF FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE AND NEGATIVE DECLARATION The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Cemmission) has issued Amendment No. 2 to Facility Operating License No. d-101, issued to The Regents of the University of California (the licensee), which renews the license for operation of the TRIGA Mark III research reactor, located on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley.
The facility is a research reactor that has been operating since August 10, 1966, and is currently licensed to operate at 1 MWt. The amendment is effective as of its date of issuance.
The amendment extends the expiration date of Facility Operating License No. R-101 to February 3, 2005.
The application for the amendment r.omplies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment.
Notice of Proposed Issuance of Amendment to Facility Operating License in connection with this action was published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on September 30, 1976 (41 FR 43258). No request for a hearing or petition for leave to intervene was filed following notice of the proposed action.

,... 7590-01 The Commission has prepared an environmental impact appraisal for the renewal of the Facility Operating License and has concluded that an environmental impact statement for this particular action is not warranted because there will be no significant environmental impact attributable to the action.
For further details with respect ot this action, see (1) the application for amendment dated December 30, 1974 as supplemented February 18, 1976, and December 21, 1976; August 15, 1977; and Febru:-ry 26, April 3, and May 14,1979, (2) Amendment No. 2 to License flo. R-101, and (3) the Commission's related Safety Evaluation and Environmental Impact Appraisal.
