Dear Mr. Schrock:
The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 2 to Facility Operating License No. R-101 for the TRIGA Mark III nuclear research reactor in response to your application dated December 30, 1974 and as supplemented February 18, and December 21, 1976; August 15, 1977 and February 26, April 3 and May 14, 1979.
The amendment renews the facility operating license until February 3, 2005, and incorporates in the license revised Technical Specifications consistent with the requirements of Section 50.36 of 10 CFR Part 50.
These Technical Specifications provide a more concise and definitive statement of the limits of reactor operating parameters and surveillance measures required to assure that these limits are not exceeded. The anendment also restates the license in its entirety, utilizing the current license format, to delete those items transferred to the Technical Specifications.
The amendment also adds a para-graph to the lic.ense which identifies the currently approved security plan and incorporates the plan as a condition of the license.
The document comprising the currently approved security plan for the TRIGA research reactor and our evaluation findings are in the Commission's files.
Pursuant to 10 CFR Part 2.790(d) this information is withheld from public dis-cloture.
In addition, Plutonium 239, in the fann of 5-1 curie Pu-Be sources and 1-10 curie Pu-Be source, possessed under SilM License 973 is included in reactor License No.
R-101 pursuant to 10 CFR 50.52.
These sources are stored within the reactor room and used for experiements therein; therefore, it is appropriate that these sources are included under the R-101 license.
