The U. S. :luclear Regulatory Cc=issica (NRC), in carrying out its responsibility to guard against loss or civersion of strategically important nuclear aa:erials in the interest of national security, has specified, in Sections 70.54, 40.64, and 30.5E of 10 CFR Parts 70, 40, and 30, respectively, requirements for submittal to the NRC of raaterial transfer reports whenever certain transfers of special nuclear material, source materiai, or tritium occur.

Reports are required for a transfer of one (1) gram or more of contained U-233, U-235, or Pu in special nuclear material,1,000 kilograms or more of uranium or thorium in source material, or 1,000 curies or more of tritium.

In addition, Secticns 70.53, 40.64, and 30.55 of 10 CFR Parts 70, 40, and 30 require semiannual statements of special nuclear raaterial and tritium inventories, and annual statements c.'

The NRC utilizes an electronic data processing system to record these reports.

This Reporting Identification SymbJl (RIS) should be usec in conleting the transfer forms (NRC/ DOE-741) in accordance witn tne instructions, and shculd be used in i'ventory reports and other corresponcence with the NRC relative to such reports.

The symbol XWB has been assigned as the RIS for your activities.

This assignpot is for financial purposes only until such time you are issued a license by the NRC fer possessicn of any of the materials listed above. Until that tir.e your RIS symbol may appear only in biccks 8 and 9 and rot n, b'ocks C or 7 of Form NRC/COE-741.
