The Nuclear Regula: cry Cc==issien (NRC) has been engated in the develep-
=ent of a =cre explicit pelicy fer nuclear facility decc==issiening.
In Septe=ber 1978 ve held a set of regicnal verksheps to review with State efficials the specifics cf the NEC plan.
In respense te the ec=:ents, the plan was =cdified.
NUREG-0436, Revisien fl was issued in Dece ber 1979 and sen: to all the States fer ce= rent.
A followup set of verkshops to discuss technical studies eq=pleted since last year, a prelizinary draft of a generic ervirceental impac: statement, and draft proposed rule changes, will be held en September 12-14, Celu:bia, Scuth Carclina and Septe:ber 25-27, Seattle, Washing:cn.
An agenda is enclosed.

The attendees generally agreed that such a tour would give the participants a better perspective of what veuld be entailed in decc= issioning these facilities.

Another suggestien that came out of our September le76 verkshops was that each State's representatives to the next verkshop have the epportunity to caucus before ec=ing to the verkshop.
The purpcse of the caucus vculd be t o develep the State's positien en the issues that vill be discussed.
