JUL 2 41979 The Honorable Strom Thurmond United States Senate Washington, DC 20510 Dear Senator Thurmond-The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been engaged in the development of a more explicit policy fcr nuclear facility decommissioning.
In <eptember 1978 it held a series of regional workshops to review with State officials the specifics of its pian.
A following set of workshops will be held curing the last two weeks in September.
Each Governor has been invited to designate representatives from his staff and appropriate State agencies.
Letters of invitation have also gone to the legislative leadership and public utility commission in each State.
This letter is to inform you that a regional workshop will be held at the Carolina Inn, Columbia, SC on September 12-14, 1979.
A copy of the letter of invitation is enclosed.
