APPENDIX A NOTICE OF DEVIATION South Carolina Electric and Gas Company License No. CPPR-84 V. C. Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1 Based oa the results of the NRC inspection conducted on May 22-25, 1979, certain ef your activities appear to deviate from your commitments to the Commission as indicated below:
Section 9.5.1.2 of the Final Safety Analysis Report states that the fire protection system installations are designed in accordance with the standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Section 5.E.2(c) of the Fire Protection Evaluation Report states that the fire pump installation conforms to NFPA Standard No. 20 (NFPA-20), " Centrifugal Fire Pumps" Contrary to the above, the fire pump installation does not meet the requirements of NFPA-20.
The electrical power service to the electric fire pump does not meet the locked current rating of the electric pump motor and the pressure sensing line or piping from both the diesel and electric pump discharge piping is too small in size and is not provided with the required check valves and test connections.
