Dear Mr. Chairman:

In accordance with the Energy D,eorcanization Act of II/0, as amended, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (HRC) hereby submits its auarterly report to Congress on the number of full-time pemanent employees hired and promoted between July 1,1980 and September 30, 1980.

Durino the last cuarter of FY 80, 12.95 of all new hires were r,inorities and 31.7% were women.

At GS-11 and above, minorities made up 7.3% and women 13.0?

of all new hires.

Of all new hires during the fiscal year, rinorities made up 11.6? and 33.7% were women.

At GS-11, and above, minorities constituted 7.1S and women 10.7* of all new hires durino the fiscal year.

Between July 1 and September 1980, 215 employees were pronoted by the agency.

Of that number,14.4% or 31 were minorities and 40.5% or 87 were women.

A total of 143 employees were promoted at GS-li and above curing this quarter, with 9.8% being awarded to minorities and 18.9% coino to women.

During the fiscal year,15.8% of all promotions went to minorities and 41.2% to women.

At GS-11 and above,10.9% represented minorities who were promoted and 16.3%

represented women.

Enclosures 3 and 4 summarize the number of minorities and women hired and promoted during FY 1978, FY 1979 and FY 1980.
