SUBJECT:

STEAM GENERATOR WATER LEVEL INSTRUMENTATION Attached is a memorandum from G. Lainas to D. Eisenhut dated July 9,1979 regarding the effect of high environmental temperature on steam generator water level instrumentation.

As stated in the memorandum, I&E plans to take action to ensure that affected licensees of Westinghouse operating reactors take the appropriate actions.

Further, I&E is also developin0 a Bulletin to pursue this matter generically for all other reactor designs.

The memorandum also advised that this item be the subject of a Board Notifi-cation.
