The purpose of this letter is to infom you of the response to the Friends of the Earth's petition of December 14, 1978. The Friends of the Earth had requested that the Commission suspend activities under License No. SNM-960 at the General Electric Company's Vallecitos Nuc! ear Center and remove all plutonium from the site pending public hearings on future activities under the license at Vallecitos. For the reasons stated in the encicsed response to ?h ~riends of the Earth's petition, we have detemined not to suspend the license or seek removal of plutonium from the Vallecitos site at this time.
A copy of this determination will be placed in the Commission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C. 20555 and at the local reading room for the Vallecitos Nuclear Center located at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region V, Office of Inspection and Enforcement, 1990 N. California Boulevard, Suite 202, Walnut Creek, California 94596.
A copy will also be filed with the Secretary of the Commission fer review in accordance with 10 CFR 2.206(c) of the Commission's regulations.
