Tre U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission (the Comission) has issued Arendment No. 38 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-16, issued to Jersey Centrel Puwer
& Light Company (the licensee), which amended the license for operation of tre Oyster Creek huclear Generating Station (the facility) located in Ocean County, New Jersey. The amendu.ent is effective as of its date of issuance.
The amendment authorizes a limited extension of the completion dates for certain plant modifications which we have required to improve the level of fire protection at Oyster Creek. In addition, this action allows some changes to some of the modifications being made to improve the level of fire protection at the facility.
The application for amendment complies with the standards and requirments of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Comission's rules and regulations. The Comission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act a.1d the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment. Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.
The Comission has detemined that the issuance of ti amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR k51.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need act be prepared in connection with issuance of this amendment.
