Since the Three Mile Island incident, the NRC Commissioners, the public and the media have expressed an increased interest in the status of operating nuclear power plants and fuel facilities.
This interest has now reached a level where it is desirable to know, on a daily basis, the status of nuclear facilities with an operating license.
We request your cooperatio, ir obtcining this information.
We plan to coatact each operating facility on the deuicated phone during the last half of the 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m. sMft each day.
This call will also be used as the check of the dedicated telt hone line.
The amount of time required should not exceed one or two minutes for any facility since we will caly be asking for the operating status of each plant.
If a unit is not fully operational, we would like to have a very brief deraription of the reason for this.
During prolonged ou we will not make these status calls.
Implemen-tation of this program will start Monday, July 23, 1979.
Please notify your responsible plant personnel of this program.
