Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

We have reviewed your letter of May 11, 1979, in reference to the inspec-tion conducted at North Anna Power Station Units No. 1 and 2 on March 5-30, 1979, and reported in IE Inspection Report Nos. 50-338/79-15 and 50-339/79-21. Our response to the specific deviation is attached.

We have determined that no proprietary information is contained in the reports. Accordingly, the Virginia Electric and Power Com any has no objection to these inspectio'i reports being made a matter of public disclosure.

  • RESPONSE TO DEVIATION ITEM REPORTED IN IE INSPECTION REPORT NOS.

50-319i74-15 and 50-339/79-21 NRC Comment Paragraph 3 of page 2 of your letter number 731, dated January 7,1979, in response to the Notice of Violation dated December 12, 1978, states that the procedure to assure corrective action regarding posting of changes to c,ontrolled drawings Suld be approved by February 1, 1979.

Contrary to the above, station administrative procedure ADM-43.31 was not approved by the Station Manager until March 5, 1979.

A similar item was brought to your attention in our letter dated November 21, 1979, for Unit 1.

Response

The above deviation is correct as stated.

Specifically, pursuant to section 2.201 of the NRC's " Rules of Piactice" Part 2, Title 10. Code of Federal Regulations, the following information is submitted:

1. Corrective steps aken and. results achieved:

Ve reviewed our commitment tracking program and determined it did not incorporate the specific commitment of each item listed. The program was then restructured to include a specific state =ent of ca=mitment.

A printout, of all the open items being tracked, is now being made available for station management review on a periodic basis.

2. Corrective action taken to avoid further deviation:

The commitment tracking program is being updated and an open items -

printout is being distributed periodically.

3. Date when full compliance vill be Achieved:

As stated, ADM-43.31 was approved March 5, 1979. The co==itment tracking program was restructured and implemented on May 25, 1979.
