Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
In response to your letter dated March 19, 1979, Chicago Bridge & Iron Company ruimitted, on April 24, 1979, a generic report on the veld materials used to fabricate the reactor pressure vessels for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Piant (SHNPP) Units 1 and 2.
Carolina Power & Light Company and Westinghouse Electric Corporation, our supplier, have reviewed this report and are satisfied that it adequately represents data for the reactor pressure vessels for SHNPP Units 1 and 2.
Carolina Power & Light Company has been informed by our supplier that the generic report for the reactor pressure vessels for SHNPP Units 3 and 4, manufactured by Combustion Engineering, vill not be submitted to the NRC until mid-summer 1979.
Carolina Power & Light Company request <., a 30 day review period, subsequent to the submittal of the generic report by Combustion Engineering, before responding to the NRC regarding the pertinence of t' e report to our vessels.
