On October 20, 1978, Co==cnvealth Edison Company repirted that =anufacturing deficiencies had been identified in new high pressure core spray, low pressure core spray, and residual heat re= oval pu=ps =anufactured by Ingersoll-Rand (I-R)
Cc=pany, Ca=eron Pump Division.
Each of these pu=ps is a vertical turbine pump with i=pellers located in bowls in a su=p or a self contained barrel. The motor (pri=e =over) is located at the highest pu=p elevation to take into account mui=um flooding at the site
.or space considerations. The auction is at the lower end of the pu=p wh!.le the discharge head is just below the driver. Bearings supporting the vertical shaft seg=ents (usually 5 to 10 segments) are either self lubricated, force fed (lubricated by fluid being pu= ped), er oil lubricated and =aintained within their own isolated syste=.
These pu=ps are designated as " Deep Draft".
Figures 1&2 show typical outlines of such pt ps.
