APPEt1 DIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION United Nuclear Corporation Docket No.70-820 This refers to the ir,spection conducted by representatives of the Region I (Philadelphia) office at United Nuclear Corporation's Wood River Junction, Rhode Island facility of activities authorized by NRC License No. SNM-777.
During this inspection, conducted March 5-23, 1979, the following apparerit item of noncompliance was identified.
Admendment 7 to Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-777, dated January 16, 1979, incorporated Subsection 404, dated December 12, 1978, into your license.
Paragraph 1, Zoning,of Subsection 404 requires: 'The facility shall be zoned to define contamination control areas and clean areas.
Protective clothing or special clothing, shower and change facilities shall be provided for use in the contamination control area.
A sink and alpha survey meter or hand monitor shall be provided for personnel exiting contamination control areas."
Contrary to the above, on March 7, 8 and 9,1979, licensee employees in protective clothing and truck drivers in street clothing were observed in the same areas of the loading dock.
There is no change line, survey meter or sink in the area.
The loading dock is not zoned to define it as a contamination control area or a clean area.
Inis is an infraction.
