TAP A-9 NOTE T0:
A. Thadani FROM:
M. Srinivasan i
SUBJECT:
GENERIC TASK ACTION PLAN A-9 In response to your note of September 12, 1979 on the proposed information to be provided by the NSSS Vendors in support of early verification process, I have the following coments:
1.
GE's letter of September 5,1979 The list of items on which information is to be provided by GE in Decenter 1979, does not include questions numbered 49, 53, 54, and 56 on electrical, instrumentation and control areas identifiep to them at the August 10, 1979 meeting.
In my view, it is essential that GE adequately address the following electH eal, instrumentation and control areas in a timely fashion, prior to the staff moving forward with a recomended ATWS rule to the Comission in early 1980:
1)
Information in E, I&C areas identified in Item IX.d of our February 15, 1979 letter to GE (Q No. 49).
- 2) Component diversity between RPS and ARI/RPT (Q No. 53).
- 3) Criteria for SLCS electrical heat tracing and temperature alarms (Q No. 54).
- 4) Environmental and seismic qualification of Recire pump motor breakers /
Recirc pump M.G set field breakers. (Q No. 56)
II.: Comonwealth Edison's letter of August 28, 1979 As discussed with BWR-3 owners' group at the meeting held op September 7,1979 we need the relevant E, I&C information for this design in a timely fashion consistent with BWR 4/5/6 information submittal.

2-III. Westinghouse's Letter of August 24, 1979' By December 1979, we need all E, I&C information identified in our Q No.19, Q No. 20, and Q No. 22 transmitted to Westinghouse on August 16, 1979, to facilitate staff's conclusion that the B0P mitigating systems referred to in their submittal of June 1979 can satisfy the requirements stipulated in NUREG 0460, Volume 3.
