ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SPECIFIED IN NUREG-0578, "TMI-2 LESSONS LEARNED TASK FORCE STATUS REPORT AND SHORT-TERM RECOMMENDATIONS" The NRC Lessons Learned Task Force has completed its initial review of the TMI-2 accident and published its short-term recommendations in NUREG-0578.

In this report, the need for additional accident and transient analyses was jointly recommended by the Lessons Learned and Bulletins and Orders Task Forces. These recomendations concern small breaks, inadequate core cooling, transients and accidents, and pretest calculations for some of the LOFT small break tests.

(See Section 2.1.9 of the report and page A-42 of Appendix A.) The recomended implementation schedule is presented in Appendix B.

The Owners' Gr aup has already provided considerable information regarding the evaluation of small break loss of coolant accidents. With regard to the remaining short-term analyses, it is requested that the Owners' Group provide the recomended analyses in accordance with the following schedule:

Inadequate core cooling October 31, 1979 LOFT pretest calculations November 15, 1979 Analysis of transients and accidents January 1,1980 The above information represents our complete near-term analysis request in this matter.

It should be noted that the schedule in NUREG-0578, Appendix B, requested that the LOFT pretest calculations be provided prior to the tests. The scheduled date for the LOFT small break tests has been modified and the expected starting date for the tests is November 15, 1979.
