Dear Mr. Seidle:

The following is our response to the items of noncompliance identified in IE Inspection Report Nos. 50-498/79-08 and 50-499/

79-08 dated June 4, 1979.

Failure to llave A Procedure for Monitoring Welding Operations,

1. Corrective Action Taken A written procedure has been issued to document the weld monitoring program for containment liner and reactor coolant system support welding.
2. Recurrence Control The failure to provide a written procedure to document the weld monitoring program stems from a difference in interpretation of requirements.

Procedures to control activities affecting quality will be written and issued as needed.
