Enclosure 1 - Response to IE Bulletin 79-14 Revision 1, Item 1 This report is in response to IE Bulleting No. 79-14 Revision 1, Item 1 concerning seismic analyses for as-built safety related piping systems for Unit #1. Alabama Power Company has initiated a program for verifying that seismic aralysis input information conforms to the actual configuration of safety-related systems.

The following inspection elements shall be verified by field in-

,spection teams:

(a) Piping Configuration

- Piping segment length

- Piping segment direction (b) Valve

- Valve identification number

- Location

- Exteried operator's orientation (c) Floor and Wall Penetration

- Piping fixed at the penetration (and fixed direction)

- Piping free to move

  • ~~

- Grouted or sealed sleeve (d) Pipe Support

- Support identification number

- Location

- Direction (restriction or load carrying direction)

- Type

--Spring

--Snubber

--Rigid

--Structure Frame A list of design documents for all safety-related systems in the plant would be too voluminous to present here. Therefore, a sample package (Enclosure 2) of design documents for the pressurizer relief lines is at-tached as a typical ex:mple of documents used. These documents indicate information used as input for seismic analyses.

The scope of the inspection program within the framework of IE ,

Bulletin 79-14 is as follows:

ffA,'C/;

  • Page 2 Enclosure 1 (a) SeismicCategoryI; Safety-Relafe 2 1/2 inches and above (b) Seismic Category I; Safety Relat d under 21/2 inches which wasdynamicallyanalyzedbyc[puter.

The systems or portions of systems involved in this verification includes the following:

1. Component Cooling Water System

. 2. Service Water System

3. Sampling System
4. Chemical Volume and Control System
5. Residual Heat Removal System
6. Main Steam System

- 7 Containment Cooling System

8. Reactor Coolant System
9. Emergency Core Cooling System
10. Main Feedwater System
11. Emergency Diesel Generator with Fuel Oil System
12. Gaseous Waste System
13. Post Accident Containment Hydrogen Control System
14. Auxiliary Feedwater System
15. Containment Spray System
16. Condensate Storage Tank
17. Containment Isolation System
18. Main Steam Safety and Relief Valve Systems It is planned to inspect the systems within the 60 to 120 day intervals as follows:

(a) 60 day interval inaccessible systems within the program scope.

(b) 120 day interval accessible systems within the program scope.

In the event the schedule cannot be fulfilled, a supplement to this response will be submitted.

Response to Unit 2 will be provided at the 120 day interval.
