APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Duke Power Company License Nos. CPPR-167 Cherokee Nuclear Station CPPR-168 Units 1, 2 and 3 CPPR-169 Based on the NRC inspection June 12-13, 1979, certain of your activities were apparently not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below. These items have been categorized as described in correspondence to you dated December 31, 1974.
As required by Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50, and as implemented by Duke Power Company Topical Report, Duke IA, paragraph 17.1.5, " Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings,
. and shall be accomplished in accordance with these instruc-tions, procedures,
." Cherokee specification CKS-1114.00-00-0001 requires filter materials in the NSW dam to be placed and compacted to a minimum of 80 percent relative density.
Contrary to the above, errors in performance of quality control tests have resulted in filter materials being compacted to less than the specified minimum relative density.
This is an infraction.
