Thank you for your letters of May 29, 1979, and July 3, 1979, in response to our letters of April 26, 1979, and June 13, 1979, and discussion with you during a telephone call on June 12, 1979. We understand that for Item A., a Corrective Action Report was issued to Quality Assurance regarding the approval of purchase orders to vendors who were not on the Approved Vendors List, and the filing and storage system for Vendor surveys has been completely revised to preclude the loss of such records.
Also, a complete re turvey of one vendor has been scheduled by July 27, 1979. For Items u.. and B.2., the specific travelers have been corrected and all welders and Quality Control personnel were instructed in the signing-off of operations and Hold Points on travelers.
For item C., work was allowed to continue on the two ide "ified shop orders in which Flux Core Arc welding was performed, based on the study being condu:ted which indicates that certain non-essential variables noted by the veld procedure specification will be changed, and a training session was '.ield with all welders to stress compliance with all essential and non-essential variables.
Please confirm our understanding of your actions by return letter within ten days.
We have no further questions at this time and will review your corrective action during a future inspection.
