Gentlemen:

Subject: Inspection 50-320/77-18

This refers to the meetings held at the Three Mile Island Unit 2 site,

Middletown, Pennsylvania, at our request on May 4, 11-12, 1977. These

meetings are related to activities authorized by NRC License No. CPPR-66.

The subjects discussed and list of attendees at these meetings are included

in the Office of Inspection and Enforcement Report which is enclosed with

this letter.

It is our view that these meetings were beneficial to the imple=entation of

the independent examinations part of our inspection program.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2

Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the

enclosed report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

No reply to this letter is required; however, should you have any

questions concerning this matter, we vill be pleased to discuss them

with you.
