Site: BRUNSWICK Emergency Class: NON EMERGENCY Loggerhead Turtle at Brunswick "On December 12, 2018, a Loggerhead Turtle was retrieved from the Circulating Water Intake Structure Trash Rack.
There were no visible signs of Injury or abnormalities and the condition of the turtle indicates that the death was recent.
Therefore, the lethal take is most likely attributable to plant operations. A necropsy will be performed and, if it is determined that the take is not attributed to plant operations, an update to this notification will be made. Notification to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission was completed at 11:20 Eastern Standard Time (EST).
"This non-emergency notification is being made pursuant to 10 CFR 50.72(b)(2)(xi) due to the notification to the State agency.
"This event has no impact on public health and safety.
"The NRC Senior Resident Inspector has been notified."
