September 28, 2018 Mr. Eric McCartney Regional Vice President NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC P.O. Box 300, Lafayette Road Seabrook, NH 03874
SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT RELATED TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF SEABROOK, UNIT 1 (CAC NO. ME4028)
Dear Mr. McCartney:
By [[letter::L-2010-101, Comment (1) of Larry Nicholson, on Behalf of Florida Power & Light Co., on Proposed NUREG-0800, Standard Review Plan for the Review of Safety Analysis Reports for Nuclear Power Plants; Branch Technical Position (BTP) 7-19, Guidance for .|letter dated May 25, 2010]] (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Package Accession No. ML101590098), NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra) submitted a license renewal application (LRA) pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the operating license NPF-86 for Seabrook Station, Unit 1 (Seabrook), for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff). The staff determined that the LRA was complete and acceptable for docketing on June 16, 2010.
Since that time, the staff has reviewed the Seabrook LRA, performed onsite audits, in-office audits, and inspections, issued requests for additional information (RAIs), reviewed the applicants responses to the RAIs, and developed a safety evaluation report (SER) with open items dated June 2012. The staff has closed the open items and has developed the enclosed SER (ADAMS Accession No. ML18254A294) to document its findings associated with the safety review of the LRA and supporting documentation for Seabrook.
This SER is scheduled to be discussed with the ACRS Subcommittee on November 15, 2018.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Mr. William Burton at 301-415-6332 or by email at William.Burton@nrc.gov, project manager for the safety review of the Seabrook LRA.
Sincerely,
/RA David Alley for/
