APPROVAL OF EXTENSION FOR WATERFORD STEAM ELECTRIC
STATION, UNIT 3, RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION; EA-18-020
(INSPECTION REPORT 05000382/2017009)
Dear Mr. Dinelli:
The purpose of this letter is to document the verbal approval to extend the response date for the
Notice of Violation EA-18-020, Failure to Establish Appropriate Electrical-Related FLEX
Strategies for Mitigating a Beyond-Design-Basis External Event. During an August 9, 2018,
telephone call to NRC Region IV, Mr. J. Jarrell, Manager of Regulatory Assurance, at
Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3, requested an extension for the 30-day response to
the subject Notice of Violation. This request was followed by a letter, dated August 9, 2018
(NRC Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession
Number ML18221A639). During the telephone call, Mr. Jarrell stated that the reason for the
request was that Entergy did not receive the inspection report and Notice of Violation, issued on
July 20, 2018, until August 6, 2018.
This letter confirms that in order to allow adequate time to prepare the required response, the
deadline for responding to the Notice has been extended from August 20, 2018 to
September 12, 2018.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 2.390 of the NRCs
Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be made available electronically for public inspection
in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRCs document system Agencywide
Document Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Web site at
http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
