SUBJECT:
SUPPLEMENTAL SAFETY EVALUATION ON STATION BLACKOUT - SURRY POWER STATION, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M68611 AND 68612)
We have evaluated your submittals dated February 10 and March 17, 1992 which addressed several open items described in our Supplemental Safety Evaluation dated December 6, 1991.
We find your responses to be acceptable. However, until Generic Issue B-56 "Emergency Diesel Generator Reliability" is resolved, we require that you commit to an emergency diesel generator program which, as a minimum, contains the five elements of Section 1.2 of Regulatory Guide 1.555, "Station Blackout."
We request that you respond expeditiously to bring this issue to closure.
This requirement affects fewer than 10 respondents and, therefore, is not subject to Office of Management and Budget review under P.L.96-511.
