The Fuel Manufacturing Branch of the Division of Fuel Cycle Safety, Safeguards and Environmental Review requests technical assistance for the following project:

REQUESTED ACTION: Review the License Amendment Request (LAR) for Chapter 5 revisions. Other chapter revisions will be reviewed by the Project Manager (PM). The purpose of the review is to determine, with reasonable assurance, whether the licensees requested changes will provide adequate protection against criticality hazards related to the storage, handling, and processing of licensed materials, as required by Title 10 Energy, of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 70, Domestic Licensing of Special Nuclear Material.

  • Determine if there are major deficiencies that make the submittal unacceptable for detailed review and prepare a recommendation to accept or deny (if required).

Provide an estimate of the hours required to complete the review, including the hours to complete the acceptance review. This estimate should be provided to the PM along with the acceptance review, which will be transmitted to the licensee.

  • Prepare requests for additional information, if needed. Evaluate any additional information submitted.
  • Participate in meetings, conference calls, and site visits, if necessary.
  • Provide input for a Safety Evaluation Report (SER). The review should be consistent with the guidance of Standard Review Plan for Fuel Cycle Facilities License Applications, NUREG-1520.
