Complete Vi_rginia EJectric and Power. Company (VEPlf.d) -by letter dated September 29, 1978, submitted its propesed testing program regarding environmental qualification of certain Continental Instrument Cable in 'Use at Surry P_ower Station, Units 1-;°and 2.

By letter dated October 18, 1978, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission informed VEPCO that the testing program was found acceptable.

The licensee by.letter dated December 15, 1978, submitted the test report of the envi ron_menta 1 qua l i fi ca ti on test run in accordance with the test procedure.. By letter dated May 3, 1979, the licensee submitted certain additional information on the test report.

  • The P1Bnt Systems Branch has reviewed the test results submitted by the licensee.

Based on our review, we have concluded that the Continental'*

Instrumentation Ca.bles in use at Surry Powe*r Station, Un"its 1 and 2,

-can perform the required function before, during and following specified abnormal environmental conditions.. The details of our review are pro-vided in the enclosed report.
