PLANT SYSTEMS BASES

==========================================================

3/4.7.10 CHILLED WATER SYSTEM - AUXILIARY BUILDING SUBSYSTEM The OPERABILITY of the chilled water system ensures that the chilled water system will continue to provide the required normal and accident heat removal capability for the control room area, relay rooms, equipment rooms, and other safety related areas. Verification of the actuation of each automatic valve on a Safeguards Initiation signal includes actuation following receipt of a Safety Injection signal.

During maintenance and surveillance testing, operator actions can take the place of automatic actions.

During Modes 5 and 6 and during movement of irradiated fuel assemblies, chilled water components do not have to be considered inoperable solely on the basis that the backup emergency power source, diesel generator, is inoperable.

This is consistent with Technical Specification 3.8.1.2 which only requires two operable diesel generators.

3/4.7.11 SWITCHGEAR PENETRATION AREA VENTILATION SYSTEM The OPERABILITY of the Switchgear Penetration Area Ventilation system ensures that design basis maximum temperature of 110° F is maintained in the areas which this system services.
