NRC COMBINED INSPECTION NOS. 50-354/94-21, 50-272/94-23,
50-311/94-23
Dear Mr. Eliason:
This letter refers to the emergency preparedness exercise evaluation
inspection conducted by Mr. J. Laughlin and others of this office on October
24-26, 1994, .of activities authorized by NRC License Nos. NPF-57, DPR-70, and
DPR-75 at Artificial Island, Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey, and to the
discussions of our findings held by Mr. Laughlin with Mr. G. C. Connor and
other members of your staff .
Areas examined during this inspection are important to public health and
safety, and are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is
enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of
selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews
with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspection, the onsite response to the accident
scenario was good.
There were no exercise strengths or weaknesses, but three
areas for potential improvement were noted.
No safety concerns or violations
of regulatory requirements were observed and no response to this letter is
required.
