Combined Inspection Nos. 50-272/94-10, 50-311/94-10, and 50-354/94-08
This letter refers to the announced safety inspection conducted by Dr. Richard K.
Struckmeyer of this office on April 4-8, 1994, of activities authorized by NRC License
Nos. DPR-70, DPR-75, and NPF-57 at the Salem and Hope Creek site, Hancocks Bridge,
N.J., and at the PSE&G Research and Testing Laboratory, Maplewood, N.J., and to the
discussions of our findings held by Dr. Struckmeyer with Mr. J. Trejo and other members of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection, involving your Radiological Environmental
Monitoring Program and Meteorological Monitoring Program, are important to public health
and safety and are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report that is enclosed with this
letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, effective implementation of the Radiological
Environmental Monitoring Program and Meteorological Monitoring Program was observed.
No safety concerns or violations of regulatory requirements were identified .
