[External_Sender] Beaver Valley Follow-Up

Jenny, As a follow-up to our discussion this morning.

In FENOCs November 15, 2017 request to extend certain reactor vessel inspections (Request 1-TYP-4-BN-01), the second paragraph in Section 5 states:

If there is an opportunity to perform examinations due to moving the core support structure from the reactor vessel to the permanent storage stand prior to the 2027 refueling outage, the code required VT-3 examinations will be performed on the core support structure and interior reactor vessel attachments in order to fulfill the exam requirements for the extended interval.

Section 3.2.6.3 of the safety evaluation states:

In the request, the licensee stated that BVPS-1 would opportunistically perform the B-N-2 and B-N-3 examinations if the core support structure is removed.

If the NRCs statement is not taken in context of the licensee request, then it would indicate that the inspections would be performed anytime the core support structure is removed regardless of whether or not it was placed on the stand. We are bringing this to your attention to determine if there is any concern that the threshold as to when the B-N-2 and B-N-3 examinations would be performed is different between the two documents.

Respectfully,
